Yayın Evidence-based nursing practices: Peripheral intravenous catheter (pic) placement(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2019) Ansah, Nadia Owusu; Dayan, Ayşenur; İnce, SerpilBACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: In recent years, Evidence-based health care, has emphasized the necessity of nursing profession and practices to be based on research both in our country and in the world at large. Insertion and maintenance of peripheral intravenous catheters, which is one of the primary interventions in health care improvement and treatment requires professional nursing practice and thereby using Peripheral Intravenous Catheter as a keyword/guide in this work, the results can be properly checked and the right things be brought in place. Nurses can provide the most reliable and quality care as long as they follow evidence-based developments and studies in peripheral intravenous catheter applications. For this reason, this study was planned to emphasize the necessity of basing evidence-based nursing practice in PIC interventions and care and to determine the level of awareness of clinician nurses from evidence-based developments in the peripheral intravenous catheter to their applications, which is the responsibility of nurses. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The descriptive study was performed with 268 nurses working at Akdeniz University Hospital. Sampling calculation was done by stratified sampling method. The number of nurses is stratified according to the number of nurses working in the Internal, Surgical and Intensive Care Units. The data were collected by using the ‘’Nurse Presentation Form “ and other related literature. RESULTS: 82.8% of the participants were women, 57.5% were single (unmarried), 78.8% had completed their undergraduate, 17.2% work at the intensive care unit, 57.5% at internal diseases clinics and 25.4% work at the surgical unit. In answer to the questions/propositions stated in the Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Placement and Care Form, It was observed that the highest percentage (99.3%) agreed to the proposition that the patient should be encouraged to report any change or any new disturbance that occurs in the catheter area. 40.3% of the nurses did not agree and to the proposition, ‘’infusion of lipid solutions should be completed within 12 hours’ 22.4% stated that they had no idea on this proposition. CONCLUSION: It was found that nurses were aware of evidence-based practices regarding peripheral intravenous catheter applications. However, there was a high rate of unawareness regarding the choice of catheter selection according to the duration of treatment and the choice of the catheter in relation to the type of liquids being infused.Yayın Multidisciplinary approach to preventing and treating pressure ulcer for patients who are in intensive-care unit(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2018) Ansah, Nadia Owusu; Albayrak, Nusret; Güleç, Esma; Çakıl, Yaprak Dönmez; Öztopcu, Aslı; Öztürk, Şenay; Özünal, Zeynep GüneşPressure Ulcer is necrosis's and ulcerations which precisely shows up in body parts which has osteophyte. Being exposed to pressure for a long time causes closing of the capillaries in tissue and subcutaneous and stopping of the blood circulation Pressure ulcer is a frequent and significant problem in health care, even for hospitals.Yayın A new method of skill evaluation (OSCE and CORE)(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2017) Ansah, Nadia Owusu; Kolcu, Mehmet; Yurt, SeherThe nursing education system introduces variety of nursing practices, especially during the first year. Being able to learn and independently perform these numerous practices to acquire good grades was not easy. The objectivity of this exam is what makes it the most desirable and right method of assessment, we therefore want to use this opportunity to share our views and ideas about this new method (OSCE -CORE) of evaluation in our University through this presentation. As researchers, and also examined by this method of skill evaluation, we prepared a presentation in response to this new way of evaluation...Yayın Yoğun bakımda yatan hastalarda bası yarası önleme ve bakımda multi disipliner yaklaşım(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2018) Ansah, Nadia Owusu; Albayrak, Nusret; Güleç, EsmaGiriş: Bası yarası, vücudun özellikle kemik çıkıntılarının bulunduğu bölgelerinde, uzun süreli ya da yineleyen basılara bağlı olarak deri ve derialtı dokularında kapillerlerin tamamen kapanması ve o bölgede dolaşımın durması sonucu ortaya çıkan nekroz ve ülserayonlardır. Referanslar 1.
