Violence is an important public health problem that threatens public peace in health institutions in recent years. This study was carried out to investigate methods to prevent patient violence experienced in hospitals. In the studies, it is stated that the risk of being exposed to violence in health personnel is 16times higher. The Ministry of Health reported violence cases recorded as 68.375 between the dates 14.05.2012-01.04.2018. It was also observed that nurses in occupational groups were the ones who were most exposed to violence. It was determined that emergency, psychiatry, intensive care, and surgical service workers were exposed to more violence. Patients who think that their cases are urgent, whose expectations are not met, who think that they are not treated fairly, and stressful family members can cause violence. Service personnel are blamed for financial problems, inadequate information, hospitalization, lack of bedding, and for some cases that cannot be saved. Also, as negative news about healthcare professionals and their fields do not reflect setbacks in an objective way in the media may lead to increased violence. As a result, excellent communication and explanatory information are required. Moreover, things to be done and how long the patients are to wait should be explained. Contacting other hospitals and dispatching the patients to them when beds are full will be an indication of care. In addition, it is thought that the violence will be reduced significantly with new regulations in the health system.
