    Towards enhancing student's engagement in EFL learning: caring teachers

    Accordingly, the purpose of this research study is to determine the effect of healthy teacher-student relationships as a stimulating factor to student engagement. Specifically, the desire is to see if students' affective reactions lead to cognitive shifts, i.e., if student's engagement in the learning process is increased while having a caring teacher. lt also attempts to investigate the following research questions: What role do positive emotions play in students' academic engagement? What are the sources of positive emotions in classroom instructlon? The findings will be discussed in relation to the psycho-pedagogical outcomes in EFL context.

    Youth and national identity: the case of present day Algeria

    Past Algerian youth was moulded by nationalism and the blind faith in "Algerian" identity. The latter was constructed on anti-colonialism, revolutionary ideals and nationalist fervour. These were, in fact the heydays of Algerianness as it were, when the youth dreamt of nation building and fighting for the country.
