Özet
"ldentity", usually defined as "sameness", is a complex notion and is the object of many philosophical branches: logic, metaphysics, philosophicaI psychology, philosophy of mind, political philosophy, etc. and, of course, of politics and history. Of great philosophical interest remains the problem of personal identity, but during the last decades the problem of ethnic, cultural, political and national identities has become acute. lt is strange that in the age of the so-called "globalization", not to speak of the European Unification -which in the long run implies transcendence of the nation-states and creation of a European post-nationalist identity-, the problem of national identity has become a subject of great importance, indicative of the need to belong to an homogeneous cultural community according to the political right to self-determination, within the vast international and multicultural cosmopolis.
