Öte yandan, bugün için önemli olan nokta, esasen, Miletoslu düşünürlerin görüşlerinin doğru olup olmadıkları değildir. Önemli olan, söylence döneminden farklı bir düşünme geleneğinin kurucusu olmalarıdır. Bu makalenin başka bir amacı da onların benzersizliğinin bugün için ne anlama geldiğini ortaya koymaktır.The main purpose of this article is to determine the distinguished status of the philosophers of Miletos in the history of philosophy. In this context, firstly, the historical origins of philosophy have been indicated. Then, the philosophical systems of first philosophers and the concepts like arche, cosmos, nature which they used have been examined. On the other hand, the point that is important today is not in fact whether the views of the philosophers of Miletos are right or not. It is that they are the founders of a different tradition of thinking from mythological period.
