Extracranially 25% of all schwannomas are located in the head and neck region. The eighth cranial nerve is the most frequent site involved, followed by the fifth and the seventh cranial nerves, the lateral cervical region, and the oral cavity. The treatment of choice is surgical excision of the tumor. Schwannomas do not show recurrence if completely excised.
