Farklı sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik yapılara sahip olan ailelerin çocuklarının meslek seçimlerindeki rollerini ve bu rollerdeki farklılıkları Bourdieu'nun sermayeleri açısından incelenerek karşılaştırma yapılmıştır. Ailelerin, eğitim-öğretim sistemine bakış açılarını, mesleki yönelimlerini, bu yönelimler karşısında geliştirdikleri düşünce ve davranışların arasındaki farkların üzerinde durulmuştur. Özellikle ailelerle, eğitim-öğretime dair bilgileri, çocuklarının yeteneklerinin farkındalıkları, okul bilgilendirmelerine karşı tutumları, meslek seçimleri ve çocuklarını yönlendirirken nelere dikkat ettikleri üzerinde çalışılmıştır. Gelir düzeyleri farklılık gösteren ailelerin eğitime karşı duydukları güveni ve eğitimden beklentileri konusunun üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu tez nitel bir araştırma örneğidir. Derinlemesine görüşme tekniği kullanılmış, hazırlanan sorular görüşülen kişilere sorulmuştur. Araştırma 16-30 yaş arası -lisede okuyan ve meslek seçimini tamamlamış- çocukları olan ailelerle yüz yüz görüşülerek yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın temelini oluşturan soru, “Ekonomide gerçekleşen değişimler, eğitimöğretim politikilarını etkilerken, dengesizleşen gelir durumu gençlerin hangi okula gideceklerini, mesleki yönelimlerini, gelecek planlarını ve bu süreci ailelerinin nasıl yönlendirdiği?” olmaktadır. Çalışmada ilk olarak Bourdieu'nun kavramları üzerinde durulmuş, Bourdieu'nun eğitime bakış açısı üzerine bilgiler verilmiştir. Devamında, eğitim sistemi, sınav sistemi, sınava hazırlanan öğrenciler, meslek seçimi, aile ve çocuk yetiştirme, aile yapısı, Türkiye’de aile yapısı kavramları açıklanmıştır. Bu kavramlarla birlikte araştırmanın amacı, konusu ve yöntemi sırasıyla verilmiş, bulgular açıklanmış, sonuçlar karşılaştırmalı olarak tartışılmıştır.This thesis focuses on the approaches of the families to the subject of education, which is among the subjects of sociology, and the role of families in choice of profession. The role of the families with different social, cultural and economic backgrounds in the choice of profession of their child and the differences in that role from family to family is analyzed and compared with respect to Bourdieu's theory of capital. The differences between the perspectives of the parents on the education-training system, their professional orientation and the thoughts and behaviors they developed towards these orientations were tackled. The knowledge the parents possess about the education system, their awareness of the skills of their children, their reactions towards the inputs about their children made by the school, their choice of profession and what they pay attention to when directing their children were particularly analyzed. The trust families of different income levels lay on the education system, as well as expectations from it, are emphasized. This thesis is an example of qualitative research. The technique of in-depth interview is used and the prepared questions are asked to the interviewers. The research was conducted via face-to-face interviews with families with children between the ages of 16 and 30 who have made their choice of profession. The study is based on the question "In a time when the changes in the economy affect the policy of education, to what extent does the income inequality affect to which schools the children go, their professional orientation and their future plans, and how does this process affect their families?" In the study, firstly, the concepts introduced by Bourdieu are analyzed, and information regarding Bourdieu's view on education is given. Afterwards, the concepts of education system, entrance exams and the students who are preparing for those exams, the choice of profession of the children, family and child raring, family structure, and family structure in Turkey are scrutinized.
