    An infrastructure for evidence-based practice in nursing; nursing practice and research center

    Akdeniz University Nursing Practice and Research Center was established on 12 November 2008 in the Official Gazette under the regulation no 30593. The purpose of the center is to improve the quality of nursing care and for the development of nursing services; a) Carrying out clinical researches on nursing care, creating evidence-based care protocols and guidelines, and ensuring continuous monitoring of care results in this direction b) To plan, implement and evaluate the continuing education after graduation in order to increase the professional competencies and productivity of nurses for the continuous development of nursing services) To provide coordination among the public and private sector institutions and organizations related to nursing services, to create care awareness and to work towards development. Toward purposes of Akdeniz University, Nursing Practice and Research Center plans to carry out the following activities: To develop innovative care practices based on clinical evidence in nursing and to develop the necessary manpower in the field of application for conducting clinical researches. It aims to provide nurses and undergraduate/graduate students who want to conduct research on nursing and care practices and to provide training in research methods and methods and to provide opportunities for students/nurses to assist in the implementation of research projects. In line with the results obtained from the researches carried out on central nursing and care, we create guides and protocols, to ensure integration with the application, to improve the quality of care in our university and in our country and to improve the quality of care. To carry out joint studies on the development of our country’s nursing with national and international research centers, universities, units, foundations, institutes and other disciplines that work in the fields of nursing-related activities. It aims to provide leadership in evidence-based nursing care by increasing school-hospital cooperation between the Faculty of Nursing and the University Hospital and other public and private hospitals. In the center, the board of directors, assistant principals, nursing faculty and nurses working in the hospital, two research nurses, working groups (including nurses from the hospital and nursing faculty), advisory board (composed of experts and experienced people in the field parallel to the working groups) are working. As a result, the Center for Nursing Practice and Research is a pioneering center that has been established to conduct leadership in evidencebased nursing care.
