Yayın Anemia as an eary predictor of chronic heart failure in predialysis patients with chronic kidney disease(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2019) Boiko, 0.; Rodinova, V.; Turenko, O.Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) leads to early damage to the heart and blood vessels with the development of chronic heart failure (CHF). Anemia is a factor contributing to the progression of CHF in patients with CKD. The aim of the study is to determine anemia as an early predictor of the development and progression of CHF in patients with CKD. Materials and Methods: Retrospective analysis of 100 patients with CKD I-II stages were divided into two groups: Group I included patients with CKD and clinical signs of CHF (n=50), group II - patients with CKD, but without signs of CHF (n=50). We studied the data of a physical examination, hemoglobin level (Hb) and blood creatinine, calculated glomerular filtration rate (GFR). The results were processed statistically using the program Statistica.6.0. Results: Edema on the lower extremities and enlarged liver boundaries were detected in 28 patients (56%) of the I group and 26 patients (52%) of the II group. (p = 0.035). In patients of group I, Hb was 118 (111-127) G/L, anemia was detected in 78% (n =39). In patients of group II, Hb was 115 (107-129) G/L, anemia in 70% (n=35) of patients (p=0.047). GFR in patients of group I was 64.5 (52-88) ml/min, in patients of group II-69 (52-90) ml/min. GFR below 60 ml/min., but more than 15 ml/min was determined in 30 (60%) patients of group I and in 23 (46%) of group II. Discussion: Anemia can be considered as an early predictor of CHF development in patients with CKD. The risk of CHF development and progression increases with a decrease in GFR below 60 ml/min.
