Methods: In this retrospectively designed study, we investigated the files of patients who had been diagnosed with perineal or seasonal allergic conjunctivitis in the teaching hospital of Maltepe University between April 2017 and July 2017. We divided the patients into four groups. The patients in each group had similar symptoms and scores before medication. The first, second, third and fourth groups were prescribed olapatadine 0.1%, olopatadine 0.2%, ketotifen 0.025% and emedastine 0.05%, respectively. We evaluated the symptoms and signs of the patients on the 15th day after treatment, and compared the results between the groups. Results: We investigated the files of 80 patients. There were 20 patients in each group. We evaluated the symptoms and finding scores after treatment. The symptoms and findings of allergic conjunctivitis had improved in all the four groups. There was no difference in the treatment responses between the four groups. Conclusion: Olopatadine 0.2%, olopatadine 0.1%, ketotifen 0.025% and emedastine 0.05% were all equally effective in improving the signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis. © 2018 Erdogan and Cam.Yayın A rare emergency condition in neurosurgery: Foot drop due to paget's disease [Nöroşirürjide nadir bir acil durum: Paget hastali{dotless}gi{dotless}na bagli{dotless} düşük ayak](Turkish Neurosurgical Society, 2009) Karaoglan A.; Akdemir O.; Erdogan H.; Çolak A.Paget's disease is a chronic, focal skeletal disorder that usually affects the pelvis and spine. Spinal cases are generally asymptomatic; in the symptomatic cases, the neurological dysfunctions are related to non-compressive vascular defects, hemorrhage, sarcomatoid degeneration, spinal stenosis, or pathological fractures, primarily in the lumbar region. The Neurosurgeon should have a fundamental understanding of the complications of Paget's disease and should be familiar with the indications for treatment, as well as available medical and surgical therapies. In the present paper, we report a case of Paget's disease that presented with an isolated foot drop due to a pathological fracture of L5 vertebra, and then discuss the therapeutic strategies presented in the literature.Yayın Renal cell carcinoma lately metastatic to cerebral parenchyma that causes intracerebral hemorrhage(Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2015) Aydin M.V.; Erdogan H.; Tasdemiroglu E.We present a case with renal cell carcinoma metastatic to cerebral parenchyma. A 72-year-old man was admitted to the emergency service of our hospital with sudden loss of consciousness and left-side hemiplegia. His admission blood pressure was 250/130 mm Hg, his Glasgow coma scale was recorded as 10, and his computed tomography scan of the brain without contrast enhancement showed right frontoparietal intracerebral hematoma with a dimension of 8 cm×6.3 cm×7 cm, surrounded by diffuse parenchymal edema and an 18 mm midline shift, and led to a presumed diagnosis of a hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. He was taken to the intensive care unit for conservative treatment. However, on posthemorrhagic day 3, his Glasgow coma scale was recorded as 7 and the control computed tomgrphy scan showed hematoma enlargement. He underwent right frontoparietal craniotomy and hematoma removal on the same day. During surgery, hematoma surrounded by a thick and partially ruptured capsule was detected. His pathologic report was renal cell carcinoma with intracerebral hemorrhage. The retrospective review of his medical history showed that he had undergone a nephrectomy because of renal cell carcinoma 11 years ago. © 2013 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. All rights reserved.
