Yayın Audience participation through new technologies(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2016) Evangelidou, MaryThrough new technologies and the lnternet, the individual user does not on|y receive information but aIso exchanges information, opinions and thoughts with other users. Media participants in the new technologies comprise the base that journalism needs in order to exist. Nowadays, authors and journalists do not have control on everything that the audience has access to. lt does not matter if the interaction and the participation of the audience were planned or not, if the result is relevant to the audience and leaves them happy and satisfied. then they will start participating, communicating being creative by creating through the media. This paper will examine the ways that different publics communicate through new technologies by using bibliographical research and academic references. Journalists share their stories with the audience as we a.e living in the era of participatory journalism, with digital platforms and new ways of social interaction. lt js obvious that the participation of the audience in the media represents the opinion of the audience, which is empowered by the current technological progress and is probably making possible a broader spectrum of contributors. This subject is crucial in the era we live in and it is necessary to explore it further to see how the individual contributes in the creation of news. Both public and commercial broadcasters, as welI as the printed press and the Internet, strengthen innovative public participation through procedures. Networks provide a large number of processes which invite the audience to creatively parlicipate by sharing, commenting, encouraging and criticizing what they see, share their own material and participating in the design, production and distribution of content. Media participation includes the reviews and comments of the audience that have been authorized by technological innovations and apparently allow a wide variety of public appearances. ln the early stages of technological development of the media the communication in them was impersonal. Nowadays, television, telephone and written media communication has become a major part of our daily lives and made them way more creative than they were in the past years.
