(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2019) Adalı, Ayşe; Gür, Kamer
AIM: The purpose of this study is to determine the attitudes and factors towards the nursing research and practices based on evidence-based nursing (EBN) for nursing students in 4 th grade in the nursing curriculum. MATERIALS AND METHOD: This research is conducted by means of descriptive correlation method with senior nursing students at the faculty of health sciences during their academic fall semester of 2018-2019 in 2 state and 3 private universities. While the ‘‘universe’’ of the research is 1769 people, the sample at least 474 people are calculated. 509 volunteers were reached. Data collection tools are, questionnaire, ‘‘Attitude Towards Evidence-Based Nursing Questionnaire (EBNAQ), ‘‘Nursing Students’ Attitudes to and Awareness of Research and Development within Nursing Scale (NSNRGAAS).’’ Data were tested using average, standard deviation, frequency, Shapiro Wilk test, student’s - t-test, Turkey HSD post - hoc test, Chi-Square Test, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Simple Linear Was Tested with Regression Analysis. The level of significance was accepted at the level of p<0,05. Findings: The average of students’ points is 46,85±6,58. The variables affecting the ‘‘EBNAQ’’ meaningfully are respectively, subscription to a nursing magazine, participating in research, thinking about getting an education for research methods and writing an undergraduate thesis (p<0,05). ‘‘NSNRGAAS’’ average score is 88,241±15,84. A stronger relationship was found for students who take the course than those who don’t, between EBNAQ total score and NSNRGAAS (r:0,586; p<0,01). The rates of students who took EBN course are found higher than those who don’t in terms of wanting to do research, thinking of getting education in research methods after graduation, sharing the new developments in nursing with colleagues, knowing the definition of EBN, believing the effect of nursing education on EBN, believing that with the usage of findings of EBN in practices will improve the quality of nursing and transforming EBN practices to their initiatives (p<0,01). RESULTS: The nursing students’ EBNAQ scores are found to be at a moderate level and NSNRGAAS scores are found to be high. The factors which affected the ABQ score are as follows, respectively: subscription to the nursing magazine, participating in research, thinking of getting an education for research method and writing an undergraduate thesis.
