    Worldwide natural and manmade dişsters are on the rise, often leading to loss of lives, displacement of populations and destructions of costty infrastructures. These disasters can have dramatic negative effects on the economic growth of a country and can critically undermine the region's efforts for sustainable development. Disasters produce a huge darnage at a time when the affected people are least able to act properly. It is therefore of the upmost importance that risk of disasters are mitigated and that countries are betler prepared to dealwith them - individually and collectively.
