Olguların %5,7 ‘i sevk edilmiş, %81,5’i taburcu olmuş ve %12,8’ine yatış yapılmıştır. Yayın Bradycardia following intake a single dose trazodone(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2020) Karaman, EsraKaraman, E. (2020). Bradycardia following intake a single dose trazodone / Tek doz trazodon kullanımı sonrası bradikardi: olgu sunumu. Maltepe Tıp Dergisi, 12(1), s.16-18.Yayın Effect of basic life support training on the knowledge and skills of first aid of first year medical students(Wolters Kluwer Medknow Publications, 2021) Karaman, Esra; Avcu, Nazire; Guneysel, ÖzlemObjective: To determine the timing of first aid training in the medical school curriculum and the training method with the 8-hour first aid training given to the first-grade students of the faculty of medicine. Method: The study was conducted prospectively with 168 first year medical students at Faculty of Medicine, Maltepe University in October 2019. An 8-hour course plan consisting of theoretical and practical applications was prepared. Theoretical courses included cardiopulmonary resuscitation, basic life supports, epileptic seizures, heatstroke, aspiration, and drowning issues, while practical applications included cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, basic life support scenarios, Heimlich's Maneuver and the coma position. Students were sent a link consisting of 17 questions created with Google forms at the beginning and the end of the course. Learned knowledge was measured with the posttest, and pre-and post-training results were compared. Results: A significant increase was found in the rate of correct answers compared to the pre-training period. Even the rate of correct post-test answers increased significantly in all questions; the increase in the questions related to the subjects supported by practical applications was more remarkable. It was found that more incorrect answers were given to questions about environmental injuries. Conclusions: It is possible to improve the public recognition of first aid, even with one day of theoretical and practical training. Thus, adding first aid practical courses to the first-year medical school curriculum and raising awareness at an earlier age will play an essential role in medical education.Yayın Efficacy of ProBNP and CRP/ Albumin ratio in patients with acute heart failure in the Emergency Department(2020) Karaman, Esra; Akgun, Feride Sinem; Öztürk Demir, TubaAbstractAim: Heart failure (HF) is one of the most common diseases in patients over 65 years of age.It is a clinical condition which is often mortal and requires intensive care follow-up. Therefore, some tests are used to predict the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. In this study, we aimed to compare the effect of natriuretic peptides (ProBNP) and CRP/albumin ratio on mortality and prognosis in patients who referred to the emergency department (ED) with HF.Material and Methods: The patients with ICD codes of I50 and J81 in two different hospital ED between 2018 and 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Demographic data of the patients and the parameters planned to be studied were recorded in a Microsoft Excel 2010 file. NCSS (Number Cruncher Statistical System) 2007 software was used for the statistical analysis. Results: Our study consisted of 301 patients. A very weak positive (CRP/albumin ratio increased as the ProBNP value increased) correlation of 0.193 between ProBNP measurements and CRP/albuminratios of the participants was found to be statistically significant(r=0.193; p=0.001; p<0.01).Conclusion: According to our study, no significant correlation was found between ProBNP and CRP/albumin ratio. The CRP/albumin ratio is not appropriate to be used alone to determine the definitive diagnosis and mortality in cases with acute HF. However, since there are not enough studies regarding this subject, more studies need to be done in a more extended period and with more patients.
