Yayın Assessment of risks and needs of juvenile offenders: Development and standardization of examination and assessment form (ARDEF) [Yasayla ihtilafa düşen ergenlerin risk ve gereksinmelerinin degerlendirilmesi: Araştrma ve degerlendirme formunun geliştirilmesi ve standardizasyonu](Cukurova University, Faculty of Medicine, 2011) Ogel K.; Karadayi G.; Şenyuva G.; Ozdemir Topsakal E.Objective: The Examination and Assessment Form for Juvenile Offenders (ARDEF) was developed with the purpose of investigating risk of recidivism and needs of children and adolescents who are in conflict with the law. Methods: The study of reliability and validity for this scale was carried out with 370 adolescents in penal institutions in Turkey. Interviews with the participatns were performed by prison officers. Results: Test-retest and interrater analyses of the measurement and assessment scale generated statistically significant results. The twoscales which were administered in order to measure criterion referenced validity were correlated with ARDEF subscales. The correlations between aggression and destructive behaviors evaluated with Youth Self Report Scale and aggression and criminality indexes of ARDEF were significant. These results show that ARDEF can validly measure those behaviors and risk of offending. Also the structural validity analyses that were carried out with factor analysis method have shown that the scale items loaded on three factors of mental status, poverty and criminal attitude, similar to the results of national and international research on juvenile crime. Discussion: It was shown that the scale can be used to assess the risks and needs, in order to develop individual rehabilitation programs in juvenile penal institutions in Turkey. The scale needs to be administered on a larger sample to establish the necessary norms. In addition, follow-up studies are needed to evaluate how well ARDEF measures the risk of re-offending in juveniles.Yayın Development of the Addiction Profile Index Internet Addiction Form (APIINT): Validity and reliability(Yerkure Tanitim ve Yayincilik Hizmetleri A.S., 2015) Ogel K.; Karadag F.; Satgan D.; Koc C.Objective: To adapt the Addiction Profile Index (API) for internet use and addiction in order to develop an internet addiction questionnaire better suited to the definition of addiction to be used for clinical purposes. Method: The questions of the API were adapted to measure the use of the internet. After pilot application and feedback, a new scale of 18 items was developed. Included in the study were 103 randomly selected first-year students of a private high school and the entire first year cohort of a medical faculty (n=51). The Internet Addiction Scale developed by Nichols and adapted to Turkish by Canan was used for the validation of the questionnaire. The questionnaire was reapplied to the subjects fifteen days later. Results: Cronbach's a coefficient for the total APIINT was 0.88, and retest correlation was 0.85. Three factors were obtained using explanatory factor analysis that represented 57.03% of the total variance. A correlation coefficient of 0.81 was found between APIINT and Internet Addiction Scale. The area under the ROC curve was 0.97.With a total APIINT cut-off score of 2, both the scale's sensitivity and specificity were 0.90, respectively. A screening form consisting of 2 questions with a cut-off score 3.5 had a sensitivity of 0.72 and its specificity was 0.83. Conclusion: The results show that the APIINT is a valid and reliable questionnaire that can be used for high school and university students.
