    Building Information Modeling can contribute to efficient facility management (FM) by offering visual helpful information and optimization of the team’s tasks by reducing the maintenance costs of buildings and time during operation. However, there are few studies about how to conduct this. For a facility management team, the search for the right information can be time-consuming when the exact data of the location is not available. Research question: Which strategy allows the integration between Building Information Modeling BIM and Facility Management FM in educational buildings? The present research proposes strategies for BIM implementation during the operation of a building and establishes how to integrate a construction BIM model with the operation information available from the Lighting system of the new Laboratories and Research Engineering Building of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ) in Colombia. The study resulted in a BIM Execution Plan for the operation stage of the building to begin in late 2019, including how to reorganize the Facility Management Department and which software available in the market to use for different strategies. This study finds strategies to integrate BIM and FM and demonstrates a new possibility to improve practices for facility management teams. The plan proposes how to manage the operation information using BIM software and gives to the University and other educational institutions a panorama of BIM implementation in all systems of a building.
