Yayın Sustainable development(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2016) Santos, Julia RivasNowadays, as a result of a large period of growth based on unsustainable models of development, the humanity is facing the consequences of climate change and environmental degradation, although these effects are not having an equal impact upon the entire world population. Marginalised people and poor regions are suffering disproportionately the outcomes of climate change and environmental devastation. whilst rich and privileged people and countries are being less exposed to it yet they have contributed the most to this critical environmental situation. These environmental injustices respond to structural social inequalities and forms of oppression and transgress Human Rights as they attempt on the right of a healthy environment. but also on people's life and integrity by threating their health and their livelihood. This article exposes the need to promote environmental justice by exposing and struggling the social inequalities behind and by encouraging democrat participation, in order to achieve real sustainable development.
