The issue of international migration, which started to enter the political agenda of states since the mid-1980s, has become a part of global migration governance through consultative processes, commissions, global forums, and dialogues. Many initiatives, from Regional consultative processes under the International Organization for Migration to the Global Forum on Migration and Development and the Global Migration Group under the United Nations, are involved in governance processes for the better, safe, regular, and orderly management of migration. In 2015, United Nations published “The 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development”. Almost half of the 17 goals in the 2030 agenda mentions migration issue such as human trafficking and violence against women, safety of migrant workers, reliable data of migrants, well-managed migration policies. However, while the UN targets these goals until 2030, politics of migration transformed globally in 2015, with the arrival of Syrian migrants on the European borders. The crisis, which started with nearly 1 million irregular migrants trying to enter the European Union through Turkey, entered the political agenda by affecting regional and global actors as well as the states in the region. This study aims to evaluate the management of the 2015 migrant crisis through sustainable migration governance. After briefly presenting the link between sustainable governance and global migration, the 2015 migrant crisis will be addressed. Finally, while migrant crises are managed within the scope of global migration governance, it is aimed to open up for discussion at what points they conflict with the principles of sustainable governance.en_US
