Özet

Immigration is defined as a phenomenon and a place where individuals or groups move from one place to another to settle in there and to spend some or all of their lives because of social, economic, cultural and political reasons. Especially in recent years, hundreds of thousands of people have immigrated from Middle East to Europe in order to escape from war and torture, resulting in a serious population movement. In immigration cases, children are in a special position due to the fact that their numbers are too high and they need to be protected. It is the children who pay the biggest price during the war and immigration. Immigration causes an irregular enviroment therefore, children are not able to benefit from education, health, social services, and they face more violations of rights. The negativities that may occur in this process can cause the children to be deeply and sometimes permanently damaged in their physical, mental and social development. Children are confronted as a new and important group within the recent migration movements. New and comprehensive studies are needed to understand the effects of immigration on child mental health. The aim of the review is to provide information about the psychosocial problems experienced by refugee children and adolescents.
