Özet
The use of directly measured values of evaporation is not recommended in routine hydrological applications. Because of evaporation measurements require time-consuming and high cost for maintenance and hardware. In this study, the relationships between observed and calculated evaporation values in the vicinity of Lake Van were examined. As a result of the evaluation, the coefficient of determination and Nash-Sutcliffe between observed and calculated evaporation values were obtained as 0.978 and 0.912, respectively. The statistically significant relationships were gained between observed and calculated values of evaporation. The results of this study show that, the Penman Method can be used reliably for prediction of evaporation that is important for the water budget studies, for Lake Van and other lakes in the region.
