Özet
Kentleşme süreci, günümüzde tüm ülkeler tarafından olumlu veya olumsuz bir şekilde yaşanmaktadır. Bu süreci 1950’li yıllardan itibaren yaşamaya başlayan Türkiye’de kentleşme, nüfusun büyük kentlerde toplanması şeklinde gerçekleşmektedir. Türkiye’de en yüksek oranda kentleşen bölge, coğrafi bölge sınıflandırmasına göre Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi, İstatistikî Bölge Birimleri Sınıflandırması’na (İBBS) göre ise TR1 İstanbul Bölgesi olup, kentleşme oranları tüm bölgelerde giderek yükselmektedir. Kentleşmenin hızla devam ettiği Türkiye’de, özellikle büyük kentler alt yapı, eğitim ve kültürel imkânların yetersizliği gibi birçok sorunla karşı karşıya bulunmaktadır. Önlem alınmadığı takdirde bu sorunların giderek artması beklenmektedir.
Today the process of urbanization is experienced by all countries in a positive or negative way. Turkey has experienced this process since 1950s and urbanization in Turkey occurs as the concentration of the population in big cities. In Turkey, the Eastern Anatolia Region has the highest rate of urbanization according to geographic region classification, and TR1 Istanbul Region has the highest rate according to SRUC (Statistical Region Unit Classification). Urbanization rates are gradually increasing in all regions of Turkey. Urbanization is growing rapidly in Turkey, thus especially big cities face several problems such as infrastructural and environmental issues and lack of educational and cultural opportunities. These problems are expected to increase gradually if precautions are not taken.
