Abstract
Tam da 12 Temmuz gecesinde Dağlık Karabağ cephe hattından 250 kilometre kadar ötedeki bir Azerbaycan kasabası olan Tovuz’daki Ermeni saldırısının haberleri ortaya çıktığında Erivan’ın gerçek niyetleriyle ilgili tahmin etme yarışı başladı. Neden Ermenistan Azerbaycan’a saldırdı ki şimdi? Bunu önemsiz gibi görmeye meyilli olanlara göre bu sadece cephe hattında özellikle 2016’dan beri sürekli olan çekişmelerin devamıydı. Neredeyse hiçbir fark yoktu.
Just as the news broke of the Armenian assault on Tovuz, an Azerbaijani town some 250 km away from the Nagorno-Karabagh frontline on the night of 12th July so the guesswork began about the real motives of Yerevan. Why did Armenia attack Azerbaijan now? It looked to those who were indined to downplay it, as if it was just a continuation of the skirmishes on the frontline happening ali the time especially since 2016. There was hardly any difference
