dc.description.abstractIn 2020 the world was faced with a crisis, the like of which has not been seen in a hundred years. Understanding how and why different measures in different countries did (not) work can be the key to preventing future crises, especially since zoonotic diseases have a high pandemic potential [1]. At the beginning of 2020 the eyes of the world were fixed on the People’s Republic of China and their attempts to handle the budding epidemic. For the rest of the year, they were staring at the United States of America, in disbelief, due to their horrendous response to the disease ravaging the continent. While the apparent success of China (or the failure of the US) cannot be purely atributed to the state’s (dis)regard of human rights, the question has to be posed as to what extent the perception of human rights halted pandemic efforts in the West.en_US
dc.description.abstract2020 yılında dünya, yüzyıldır benzeri görülmemiş bir krizle karşı karşıya kaldı. Farklı ülkelerde farklı önlemlerin nasıl ve neden işe yarayıp yaramadığını anlamak, özellikle zoonotik hastalıkların yüksek küresel salgın potansiyelleri olduğu için gelecekteki krizleri önlemenin anahtarı olabilir [1]. 2020’nin başında dünyanın gözü Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti’ne ve onların filizlenen salgını idare etme girişimlerine odaklandı. Yılın geri kalanında, kıtayı kasıp kavuran hastalığa verdikleri korkunç tepkiler nedeniyle, inanamayarak Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ne bakıyorlardı.en_US
