    Innovation and entrepreneurship in Greece: from the past to the future

    As a key target of the growth strategy of the European Commission. R&D investments are expected to amount to 3% of EU GDP by 2020, supporting thus innovation, research, entrepreneurship, education and economic development. These targets vary across countries depending on the size and their specific characteristics. ln the case of Greece, this is expected to enhance the employment rate to 70%, increase the share of renewable to total national energy production to 18% and lead to many other developments and beneficial economic consequences for the country. lnternational competitiveness, a current fiddly area of the Greek economy, is expected to be enhanced as well, especially through innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives.

    Rethinking the role of international institutions: competitiveness and keynesian policies in the Greek-Euro crisis

    The purpose of this paper is to provide an evaluation of the economic and financial policies of the lnternational Organizations (lOs) dealing with the Greek-Euro crisis. While until recently supply-side and austerity policies in the European periphery seemed to dominate economists' and policymakers' agenda, crisis persistence led to the acknowledgement of flawed approaches by the lnternationaI Monetary Fund, something which seems to be causing significant policy changes.
