The institute for postgraduate studies in computer science and telecommunicaiton NDIT/FPIT is to be understood as a training, research and development partnership betweeen universities, universities of applied science and companies. It is the main purpose of NDIT/FPIT research and course program, to keep graduate information engineers familiar with the current technological and scientific evolutionwithin computer science. Such technological changes have a strong impact especially on engineering sciences, where lifelong learning become a first priority for active engineers. The new information- and communication technologies induce a fundamental change in contents and methods of the learning processes. Our continuing education system has to adapt rapidly to the new requirements. New psychological and pedagogical concepts and extended technology assessment efforts are required to avoid pure technocratic forms of the new learning and teaching systems. International interdependence through growing global networks makes it unavoidable, that the international aspect has to be integrated within the professional development and training strategies. The achievement of these goals in the main motivation of the research and development project CLASSROOM 2000.
