Financial services are the essence of an economy, appointing households and businesses alike to free, invest, and protecl themselves against exposure The idea of this paper is to provide background to financial services and their importance in driving financial inclusion. While there have been important improvements, we are still very much at the start of the story with many countries still to present such services, and far more yet to see them attain significant scale. Not only does digital increase levels of customer engagement, it also opens up approaches for the monetisation of new services, These innovative services serve to create a creater customer experience, one that the customer is willing to pay for. Banks represent an excellent opportunity to lower costs. attract and retain customers and deepen relationships. They also present an opportunity to build and explore new customer value propositions and business models at relatively low cost/risk, which on the one hand can lead to exciting growth potential.
