    Influence of information technology on gen Y behavior in terms of employment

    Every day we are witnessing an unstoppable and growing impact of information technology (IT) that affects every dimension of modern society and defines the quality of life. As one of them, Human Resources Management is facing with modifications within processes of employment, new professions and essential competencies on the labor market. Generation Y, born between 1980 and 2000, is without any doubt dominant global workforce nowadays. Even organizations recognize crucial role of Gen Y, but also their lifestyle that is mostly based on the use of IT and adjust their HRM activities in order to match with preferences and expectations of Gen Y. Findings of this paper show reorientation of Gen Y and their “digital change” in work behavior, which is visible from initial phases, platforms with CV templates, till final phases of this process like video job interviews. Conclusive research in this paper is based on comprehensive literature review and findings (qualitative and quantitative) of previous exploratory studies in this area. Both, deductive and inductive approaches were used in order to test the hypothesis, which claims that the growing influence of IT causes transmission of Gen Y from traditional to “digital” approach in the employment process. Besides obvious change in work behavior among Gen Y, this paper will provide predictions of direction and character of those tendencies in the future, but also reveal factors, such as savings in time and money, which inspire those changes.
