This study is a depictive study which exercized university students with correlational survey model to determine the relationship between childhood trauma and self-esteem level as well as the dating abuse and attachment level. The workgroup of this study consists of 225 active university students. 188 of the attendants (83,6%) are woman and 37 are man. When the past relationship experiences considered, 52 (23,1%) of them never had relationship. 63 (28%) had one relationsip and 110 (48,9%) of them had more than one relationship. When we look at the demographic information 60,9% percent is freshman, 48,9% of them had more than one relationship, 72,9% of them were not abused by their fathers, 58,7% of them were not abused by their mothers, 26,2% of them goes on a date with their partners couple times a week and 40,4% of them describes their relationship as; “I don?t know if we ever get married but we are serious”. The average period of ongoing relationships are 10,28 months. In this study, Intimate partner violence attitude Scale-revised form, Rosenberg self esteem scale, Experiences in Close Relationships scale and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire were used to determine attendees? attitude towards date abuse, self esteem levels, attachment patterns and adverse childhood experiences. Also to get demographic information about attendees a personal information form was used. T test was used to determine if the attitude towards date abuse vary by sex. ANOVA test was used to determine if the attitude towards date abuse vary by past experiences and relationship perceptions. T-test also used to analyse if their attitude towards date This study is a depictive study which exercized university students with correlational survey model to determine the relationship between childhood trauma and self-esteem level as well as the dating abuse and attachment level. T-test also used to analyse if their attitude towards date abuse vary by childhood abuse by their parents or witnessing violence between them. The relationships between date period, age, dating frequency, dating and date abuse attitude level, attachment types, self-esteem and childhood traumas were evaluated by Pearson Correlation Analysis. Predicting Date abuse attitude level according to sex, attachment types, self-esteem and childhood trauma was evaluated by Linear Hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The study shows that, there is a significant difference between sex and attitude towards date abuse, dating frequency and subscale of Intimate partner violence attitude Scale and also a significant difference between anxious attachment, physical negligence, sexual abuse and attitude towards date abuse.
