dc.description.abstractDespite many attempts to account for the rlationship between a scientific hypothesis and evidence, the issue still calls for a satisfactory solution. Logical approaches to hypothesis confirmation are problematic because of their neglect of the semantic dimension of hypothesis confirmation. Probabilistic accounts of confirmation are no bette than logical approaches. An outstanding probabilistic account of confirmation, the Bayesian approach, for instance, is found to be defective in that in addition to the diffuculties associated with the subjective interpretation of probabilities, it treats evidence as a formal entity. The aim of this essay is to satisfy the need for a satisfactory account of hypothesis confirmation by offering an original formulation based on the notion of instantiation of the relation urged by an hypothesis.en_US
dc.description.abstractBilimsel bir hipotez ve kanıt arasındaki ilişkiyi açıklamak için yapılan birçok girişime rağmen, bu durum halen tatmin edici bir çözüm gerektirir. Hipotez onaylamasına yapılan mantıksal yaklaşımlar, hipotez onaylamasının semantik yönünü ihmal etmeleri nedeniyle sorunlar doğurur. Olasılık yaklaşımlarının da mantıksal yaklaşımlardan daha geçerli bir çözüm getirdiği söylenemez. Örnek vermek gerekirse, harikulade bir olasılık yaklaşımı örneği olan Bayesian yaklaşımının dahi, olasılıkların öznesel yorumlanmasından kaynaklanan sorunların yanı sıra, kanıtları resmi bir varlık olarak algılamasından ötürü de hatalı bulunmuştur. Bu makalenin amacı, bir hipotez tarafından desteklenen ilişkinin başlatılması kavramına dayanan özgün bir reçetesinin sunularak tatmin edici bir hipotez onaylaması yapısına olan gereksinimi gidermektedir.en_US
