Abstract
A major sociopolitical problem nowadays faced by Greece in the midst of a severe financial crisis is the migration of large numbers of people from the East and elsewhere. These migrants often crossing the sea have not even the basic necessities for survival, making them vulnerable both mentally and physically. Different diseases and unfavourable circumstances can turn out fatal if measures are not taken in time for their immediate prevention and care. Although these diseases are usually curable within the context of most European countries, as western societies have the appropriate treatments, they pose a great health risk for this group of people and the societies they are moving into.
