dc.description.abstractThe main goal of the present study is to describe the motivation levels of English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers who taught English online during Covid-19 pandemic and to explore their suggestions on how to improve teacher motivation for online teaching in the future. With this goal, EFL teachers working in the school of foreign languages of a state university in Turkey were asked to share their opinions about motivational constructs such as technological pedagogical knowledge self-efficacy, technostress, burnout, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and continuance intention about online teaching in the future. In a qualitative design, the data was collected first through an online questionnaire, then semi-constructed interviews and finally a focus group interview. The findings revealed that, despite some negative emotions, the majority of the participants have a positive attitude and describe themselves motivated toward online teaching to various extents, and they also intend to continue using it one way or another in the future. Their suggestions cover topics like the need for professional development about online teaching, regulations about student participation, better tools and materials especially designed for online teaching and changes in the programme and online lesson hours.en_US
dc.description.abstractBu çalışmanın temel hedefi, Covid-19 salgını sürecinde çevrimiçi İngilizce öğreten İngilizce öğretmenlerinin motivasyon düzeylerini tanımlamak ve gelecekte çevrimiçi öğretime dair öğretmen motivasyonunu iyileştirme konusundaki tavsiyelerini araştırmaktır. Bu amaçla, Türkiye’de bir devlet üniversitesinin Yabancı Diller Okulu’nda çalışmakta olan İngilizce öğretmenlerinden teknolojik pedagojik alan bilgisi öz yeterliliği, teknostres, tükenmişlik, içsel ve dışsal motivasyon, ve gelecekte çevrimiçi öğretimi kullanmaya devam etme niyetleri gibi motivasyon kavramları üzerine düşüncelerini paylaşmaları istenmiştir. Nitel bir dizayn içerisinde, veriler önce çevrimiçi bir anket, ardından yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ve son olarak odak grup görüşmesi yoluyla toplanmıştır. Sonuçlar, bazı negatif duygulara rağmen, katılımcıların çoğunun olumlu bir tutuma sahip olup çevrimiçi öğretime karşı değişen düzeylerde motivasyonlu olduklarını ve gelecekte çevrimiçi öğretimi bir şekilde kullanmaya devam etmek istediklerini göstermiştir. Önerileri, çevrimiçi öğretimle ilgili mesleki gelişim ihtiyacı, öğrenci katılımıyla ilgili düzenlemeler, özellikle çevrimiçi öğretim için tasarlanmış daha iyi araç ve materyaller, program ve çevrimiçi ders saatlerindeki değişiklikler gibi konuları kapsamaktadır.en_US
