Abstract

Turkey has undergone a transformation of political, dentity from the 0ttoman age, at the beginning of the Republic and in the millenial age now. ln the Ottoman era, the identity of the state was based on religion until it was challanged by the nation state idea. Then modern Turkey was established and built its political identity exclusively on the Turkish ethnicity.
