dc.description.abstractSince 2011, Taiwan authorities allowed students from mainland China to Taiwan to study for a degree. ln the fall of that year, the first batch of students from mainland China formally entered Taiwan colleges and universities, which marks a significant point in the development of the relationship of both sides of the Taiwan Strait. This article selects reports about mainland students in The Liberty Times and the United Daily News (main newspapers in Taiwan) from September 1, 2011 to August 31,2012, adopts the methods of content analysis and text analysis to research the characteristics of coverage of the event and the media image of mainland students...en_US
