dc.description.abstractTarih boyunca “kent” kavramı üzerine birçok fikir ve teori üretilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, öncelikle “bir kenti o kent yapan şey” üzerinde durulmuştur. “Kentler, sürekli devinip değişmekte olan organik yapılar olduğuna göre, bir kente öz karakterini veren nitelikler nasıl belirlenebilir?” sorusu, mimarlığın bakış açısıyla ilişkilendirilerek yanıtlandırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, filozofların sadece kent kavramı ile ilgili görüşlerine değil, aynı zamanda mimarlıkla ilgili görüşlerine de yer verilmiştir. Mimarlık, “insan” tarafından “iskân” edilecek kentlerin inşa edilmesi bakımından önem taşır. Kentin ontolojik incelemesinde Aristoteles’in form görüşünden yararlanılmıştır. Kentin formu olarak beliren “siluet” bu görüş bağlamında incelenmiştir. Öte yandan kentlerin tarihsel açıdan geçirdiği önemli evrelere de değinilmiştir. Kente ontolojik yaklaşımda görüşlerinden yararlanılan diğer bir filozof ise Hartmann’dır. Aslen bir bilgi sorunu olan “kentlerin neliği” ile ilgili soruşturma epistemolojik olarak ele alındığında, ortaya kent yaşamını derinden etkileyen bazı –izmlerin çıktığı görülmüştür. Değer problemi kapsamında ele alınan kentlerin içine düştüğü durum esasen bir “değerleme sorunu”dur. Kentlerin “insanca yaşama”ya elverişli inşa edilmesi ve yaşamını insanca sürdürecek biçimde iskân edebilmesinin olanakları araştırılmalıdır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThere are many ideas and theories about the “city” concept along the history. This thesis is based on “the attributes that make a city what it is”. An attempt is made to answer the question “how it should be possible to determine the qualifications which give to a city its own character?”, as the cities are organic structures changing constantly. In this sense not only philosophers’ but additionally the architectures’ opinions are included in this work. The architecture is significant for constructing a city since it would be dwelled by the humans. The ontological analysis here is under the influence of Aristotelian ideas. “The silhouette” as the form of a city is considered in terms of this approach. On the other hand the important historical periods of the cities are tried to be covered. Hartmann is another philosopher whose ideas are full of references for the ontological approach. The epistemological inquiry is about the essence of the cities which are fundamentally an epistemological problem, since that there are some –isms which deeply influences the city life. The current situation of the cities is not a problem of value, but an evaluation problem. The research here is aimed to find the possibilities of building cities integrated to “a human life” and to dwell in order to “live as a human”.en_US
