dc.description.abstractSosyal bilimlerin genellikle ihmal ettiği kavramlardan biri olan “kuşak” hakkındaki en kapsamlı çalışma Karl Mannheim tarafından kaleme alınmıştır. “Kuşaklar Sorunu” başlıklı makalesinde Mannheim, kuşağı tarihsel bir olayın etkisi altında ortak bir bilinç geliştiren, ortak bir zaman-mekan çerçevesini paylaşan genç bireylerden oluşan toplulukları adlandırmak için kullanır. Bunun yanında böyle bir topluluğun ortaya çıkması için toplumsal ve kültürel değişmenin belli bir hızda – aşırı hızlı ya da aşırı yavaş olmayacak biçimde- seyretmesi gereğini de kuşak oluşumunun bir koşulu olarak tanımlar. Bu yazı, Mannheim kavramlaştırmasından hareketle 1970’li yıllarda Türkiye’de toplumsal değişme ve kuşak oluşumu olgusunu bir arada ele almayı denemektedir. Makalenin yanıtlamaya çalıştığı sorular şunlardır: 1970’ler Türkiye’sinde toplumsal ve kültürel değişmeyi koşullayan genel olgu ve ilişkiler nelerdi? Hangi koşullar, nasıl birleşerek 1960’ların sonlarında ve 1970’ler boyunca gençliği siyasetin etkin bir öznesi haline getirmiştir? Kuşaktan söz etmeyi mümkün kılacak bilincin oluşumunda hangi tarihsel olayın /olaylar dizisinin etkileri ayırt edicidir? 78 Kuşağı’nın biçimlenişinde 68 Kuşağı’nın rolü üzerine neler söylenebilir? 78 Kuşağı’nın siyasal sosyalizasyon süreci nasıl incelenebilir ve 1970’lerin kültürel ortamıyla nasıl ilişkilendirilebilir?en_US
dc.description.abstractThe most comprehensive work on generation, one of the largely neglected concepts in social sciences, was penned by Karl Mannheim. In “The Problem of Generations” Mannheim uses the term referring to collectivities which consist of young individuals who share the same spatio-temporal framework and develope common consciousness under the influence of a historical event. Additionally, he defines a certain pace of the progress of social and cultural change –which should not be too fast or too slow- as the necessary condition for the formation of a generation. Drawing on Mannheims conceptualization of generation, this article endeavours to discuss 1970ies’ social change in Turkey in conjunction with the fact of generation formation. The main questions adressed here are: What were the general facts and relations in the 1970ies that promoted social and cultural change? Which conditions and how turned the youth into an active subject of politics in the late 1960ies and throughout the 1970ies? Which historical event - or series of events- are distinctive in the formation of a common consciousness that enables us to speak of a generation? What was the role of the ’68 generation in the formation of the ’78 generation? How can the political socialization of the ’78 generation be studied and how can it be interrelated with the cultural setting of 1970ies?en_US
