dc.description.abstractÖlüm bireyin fiziksel ve psikolojik anlamdaki son evresi olup, yaşamın kaçınılmaz bir parçasıdır. Ölüm terminal dönemdeki hasta için yaşamın, ailesi ve yakınları içinse sevilen birinin kaybı anlamına gelmektedir. Bir şeyden yoksun olma durumu olarak tanımlanabilen kayıp, yas sürecini başlatmaktadır. Hemşireler bireye, aileye ve topluma bakım veren sağlık profesyonelleridir. Terminal dönmedeki hasta ve aileye gereksinim duydukları bakımı sağlamak sorumlulukları arasında yer almaktadır. Kaliteli sağlık bakımı için terapötik iletişim kurmak ve sürdürmek gerekmektedir. Ancak hastanın beklenen ölümü, hemşirenin yaşamı koruma ve sürdürme amacına ters düşmekte, ölüm yok sayılabilmekte ve bu durum hasta ve aileleri ile iletişimde güçlüklere neden olmaktadır. Bu makale, terminal dönemdeki hasta ve ailesinin yaşadıkları güçlükleri ortaya koyarak, hemşire-hasta-aile üçgenindeki iletişime yönelik kuramsal bir çerçeve üzerine odaklanmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractDeath is the terminal phase of an individual’s physical and physiological existence, and is an inevitable part of life. Death means loss of life for the terminally ill patients and loss of a loved one for the patient families and relatives. Nurses are healthcare professionals providing care for individuals, families and the society. Offering the care required by the terminally ill patients and their families are among the responsibilities of the members of this profession. Establishing and maintaining a therapeutic communication is a must if high quality healthcare is to be provided. However the anticipated death of these patients presents a contradiction against the purpose of nurses, that is, to safeguard and sustain life. Moreover, the realty of death is ignored, which altogether lead to difficulties in establishing communication with patients and their families. This article focuses on a theoretical frame encompassing nurse-patient-family triangle, by pointing out the difficulties experienced by terminally ill patients and their families.en_US
