Abstract
Retroperitoneal tümörler içinde schwannoma görülme olasılığı %2 den azdır(1). Schwannomalar periferal sinirlerin kılıfında bulunan Schwann hücrelerinden kaynaklanırlar. Genelde benign karekterdedirler.
Retroperitoneal schwannoma is a rare occurrence, accounting for less than 2% of all retroperitoneal tumors (1). Schwannoma is a tumour originating from Schwann cells which are found in the nerve sheath of peripheral nerves. They are generally benign. We found a retroperitoneal mass incidentally following investigation for renal stones in 59 years old male patient. After CT and MRI examinations we prefered open surgery and removed the mass which was in monoblock and with intact capsule. The histopathologic diagnosis was schwannoma. There were no complications, recurrence or metastasis within 18 months follow up.
