Özet
The phenomenon of human mobility or "people in motion" might be related with a variety of reasons stimulating individuals to be on the move and reside away from their homelands for long or short periods of time or forever. However, according to statistics, permanent settlement in the country of origin is still the norm for many people. Developments in transportation and communication technologies have provided more opportunities for more people to travel, work, reside, live and stay in different parts of the world even if access to mobility is gendered, stratified and highly regulated. There can be numerous reasons behind the movement of people across borders, voluntary or forced, temporary or permanent, due to some push or pull factors concerning the host and home countries and so on. Whatever the motives for being on the move, cultural transition processes and outcomes of human mobility compels us to rethink the relation between culture, place and identity as well as different aspects of cross-cultu ral awa reness.
