Objective: Peripheric vascular injury is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in traumatised patients. To analyse the causes of injury, surgical approaches and complications of vascular trauma in patients with peripheric vascular injuries. Methods: A retrospective clinical experience was made of treatment outcomes of patients with peripheric vascular injuries of the extremities. Clinical diagnosis was made with physical examination and doppler ultrasonography in all cases. Results: Gunshot wounds were seen in 29 patients (54.7%), penetrating trauma was the mechanism in 19 patients (35.8%) and blunt trauma in 5 patients (9.4%). Peripheric vascular injuries were treated with primary repair in 64% and complex repair in 36%. The limb salvage rate was 98 per cent. Conclusions: Peripheric vascular injuries can be managed successfully unless associated by severe concomitant damage to bones, nerves and soft tissues.en_US
