dc.description.abstractThe impact of online education on students’ attendance to foreign language classes in a Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational High School was investigated in this study. In line with the purpose, the activities organized using interactive applications and social media enriched with Web 2.0 tools were attended by 34 students of a Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational High School in Kocaeli; during the emergency online education period due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The activities were applied for ten weeks to attract students' attention to the lesson and ensure their attendance. Following the application, the students were asked open-ended questions and conducted online interviews. All the data was recorded and transcribed for analysis. The data were subjected to content analysis and descriptive analysis. As a result of the research, the positive aspects of online courses, according to the students who participated in the study, are as follows: being sufficient, fun, and valuable, teachers' high effort, being instructive/educational, efficient, and finally comprehensible. The negative aspects of online foreign language courses are lack of interaction, indiscipline, internet shortage, and inefficiency. According to the study's findings, foreign language classes designed with Web 2.0 interactive tools attract students' interest and raise their attendance to the lessons.en_US
dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada; çevrimiçi eğitimin turizm ve otel işletmeciliği meslek lisesindeki öğrencilerin yabancı dil derslerine katılım süreçlerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Amaç doğrultusunda Web 2.0 araçları ile zenginleştirilmiş interaktif uygulamalar ve sosyal medyadan faydalanılarak düzenlenen etkinlikler, Kocaelli ilindeki bir turizm ve otel işletmeciliği meslek lisesinin 34 öğrencisine; Covid-19 pandemisi sırasında zorunlu olarak geçilen uzaktan eğitim sürecinde 10 hafta boyunca uygulanarak, öğrencilerin derse dikkatlerinin çekilmesi ve katılımlarının sağlanması çalışılmıştır. Uygulama sonrasında öğrenciler ile online görüşmeler yapılarak kayıt altına alınmıştır. Elde edilen verilere içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; araştırmaya katılan öğrencilere göre çevrimiçi derslerin olumlu yönleri sırasıyla; güzel, eğlenceli ve yararlı olması, öğretmenlerin yüksek çaba göstermeleri, öğretici/eğitici olması, verimli olması ve son olarak anlaşılır olmasıdır. Çevrimiçi yabancı dil derslerinin olumsuz yönleri ise sırasıyla; güç olması ve etkileşimsiz olması, disiplinsizlik, internet sıkıntısı ve verimsiz olmasıdır. Araştırmada; Web 2.0 destekli interaktif tasarlanan yabancı dil derslerinin öğrencilerin ilgisini çektiği ve derslere olan katılım düzeylerini artırdığı saptanmıştır.en_US
