Özet
Libraries have been an important part of every society for centuries. lt is argued that they were one of the reasons why the lslamic civalization flourished in the middle ages whıle at the same time Europe was sulferıng during its Dark Ages, However, due to various reasons and historical events, both libraries and books came to lose their prestigious position in the Arab world, The purpose of this research is to help libraries regain their role in the Arab world via understanding the role of urban design in this context. The paper aims to study how graphic design can help in solving the problem of libraries and re-attract Arabs especially young adults. The research follows the discourse analysis methodology to reach its aim. lt is crucial in this research to understand, taking into consideration the essence of the cultural turn and the social construction approach, that 'Library' is not a universal concept, but rather it is 'constructed' via the discourse that shapes it. ln order to achieve the research goals, both qualitative and quantitative methods are used...
