Özet
The basis of this paper is to shed light on using quick board sketches to illustrate meaning about an abstract context or mind mapping to make students internalize even the most complicated grammatical rules which they might have difficulty in memorizing or understanding in English Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. This paper is based on data conducted ın the twelfth grades at Mustafa Çizmecioğlu Anatolian High School in Bolu, Turkey with 18 year-old teenagers for a period of 5 weeks, Blackboard. colorful board markers, and projection were used and also drawing and mind mapping techniques were used to enhance students' understanding of abstract concepts and push them thinking creative. Data collection was based on questionnaires including 10 main questions related to difficulties in learning process, dislikes and likes about the teaching techniques of teacher, usage of art in the classroom. The results showed that % 80 of the students were complaining about the teachers who commanded them what to do during the lesson without using any kind of art, different techniques rather than stereo-typed ones or personal skills. Through the results l determined some strongly agreed preferences such as "l like to see pictures'' and "l feel anxious when the teacher asks me individual questions about a specific topic''. Based on the students' views. I suggested some crucial strategies on what kind of grammar rules and vocabularies can be taught easily and effectively by using drawing and mind mapping. Results indicated that how using drawing or mind-mapping in EFL classrooms push the students thinking creatively, encourage them in stating personal ideas and facilitate learning process l believe that the findings will help English teachers overcome the abstract concepts which seem challenging to be taught and find the missing pieces of teaching process in terms of building a lively atmosphere in ILT classrooms.
