Causes of violence towards health workers from the perspective of nursing students

dc.description.abstractAim: The aim of the study is to determine the causes of violence against health workers from the perspective of nursing students. Methods: The study included 295 nursing students of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak School of Health, who agreed to participate in the study. The data collection form was used to collect personal information and opinions about violence. Data were evaluated using numberpercentage distribution, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test analysis. Results: The average age of the participants was 20.40±1.52, 63.1% were women, 38% were second class, and 85.4% did not receive training on violence against health workers. When questioning who is responsible for the violence against the health worker, 49.5% of the participants stated that they were both health workers and patient/patient relatives and 45.4% stated that they were patient/patient relatives. According to the results obtained in the study, the reason of violence to the health worker from the point of view of the nursing students is that the patient/patient relatives are impatient with 62.7%, the crowding of hospitals with 38.6% and the inadequacy of the number of health workers with 38%. It was found that only 18.3% of the individuals concerned with the punishments had information about the criminal procedures related to the violence against the health worker and 77.8% of them thought that these punishments were not deterrent. 52.5% of the participants think that the news and series in the media increase the tendency of violence against healthcare workers. Conclusion: Violence against health workers is increasing day by day. Therefore, we hereby wanted to emphasize that lessons concerning establishing effective communication with patients and recognizing the legal rights should be included in the nursing faculty curriculum.en_US
dc.description.abstractAmaç: Çalışmanın amacı hemşirelik öğrencileri bakış açısıyla sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik şiddet nedenlerini belirlemektir. Yo?ntem: Araştırma Mehmet Akif Ersoy U?niversitesi Bucak Sağlık Yüksekokulu hemşirelik o?g?rencilerinden c?alıs?maya katılmayı kabul eden 295 o?g?renci ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmacılar tarafından literatür taranarak oluşturulan kişisel bilgilerin ve şiddete ilişkin görüşlerin yer aldığı veri toplama formu kullanıldı. Verilerin deg?erlendirilmesi sayı- yu?zde dag?ılımı, Mann Whitney-U testi ve Kruskal Wallis test analizleriyle yapıldı. Bulgular: Aras?tırmaya katılanların yas? ortalaması 20.40±1.52, %63.1’i kadın, %38’i ikinci sınıf ve %85.4’ünün sağlık çalışanına şiddet ile ilgili eğitim almadığı görülmektedir. Sağlık çalışanına yönelik şiddetin sorumlusunun kim olduğu sorgulandığında katılımcıların %49.5’i hem sağlık çalışanı hem de hasta/hasta yakını, %45.4’ü hasta/hasta yakınları olduğunu belirtmektedir. Aras?tırmada elde edilen sonuc?lara go?re, hemşirelik öğrencileri bakış açısıyla sag?lık çalışanına s?iddet nedenleri sıralamasında %62.7 oran ile hasta/hasta yakınlarının sabırsız olması ilk sırada, %38,6 oran ile hastanelerin kalabalıklığı ikinci sırada, %38 oran ile sağlık çalışanı sayısının yetersizliği yer almıs?tır. Verilen cezalarla ilgili bireylerin sadece %18.3’ünün sağlık çalışanına yapılan şiddete ilişkin cezai işlemler konusunda bilgi sahibi olduğu, bunlarında %77.8’inin bu cezaların caydırıcı olmadığını düşündüğü bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların %52.5’inin medyadaki haber ve dizilerin sağlık çalışanına yönelik şiddet eğilimini arttırdığını düşünmektedir. Sonuç: Sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik şiddet gün geçtikçe artış göstermektedir. Bu nedenle hemşirelik öğrencilerine ilişkin mezuniyet o?ncesi do?nemde; hasta ile etkili iletis?im kurabilme ve s?iddete maruziyet durumunda sahip oldukları hukuki hakları ile ilgili derslerin mu?fredata eklenmesinin gerekli olduğu düşünülmektedir.en_US
