Carbonyl groups can be introduced into proteins deliberately for bioorthogonal labeling or by endogenous processes such as oxidative stress. Cremical probes for detection and labeling protein aldehydes are primarily hydrazides or 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine, but the kinetics of the labeling reactions are slow at neutral pH.en_US
