Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı ergenlerin empati ve iletişim becerilerinin internet kullanım süresine, internete bağlanma şekline, internet kullanım amacına, sosyal ağlardaki paylaşım türüne, en çok kullanılan sosyal ağdaki arkadaş sayısına göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını incelemektir. Ayrıca çalışmada ergenlerin iletişim ve empati becerilerinin cinsiyete, yaşa, ailenin gelir durumuna, akademik başarıya, anne-baba eğitim durumuna göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını ve empati ile iletişim becerileri arasında anlamlı bir ili?ki olup olmadığı incelemek de amaçlanmıştır. Örneklem grubu Kocaeli ili Başiskele ilçesindeki MEB'e bağlı 8 devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 8.sınıf öğrencilerinden 210'u erkek, 228'i kız olmak üzere toplam 438 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmadan Kişisel Bilgi Formu, iletişim Becerileri Envanteri, Empatik Eğilim Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verileri çözümlemek için Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA), indipendent Samples t-Testi ve Korelason kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre öğrencilerin empati becerileri internet kullanım süresine, internete bağlanma şekline, internet kullanım amacına, sosyal ağlardaki paylaşım türüne, sosyal ağdaki arkadaş sayısına, cinsiyete, ailenin gelir durumuna, akademik başarıya, anne eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı fark göstermiştir. Öğrencilerin iletişim becerileri ise internet kullanım süresine, internete bağlanma şekline, internet kullanım amacına, paylaşım türüne, sosyal ağdaki arkadaş sayısına, cinsiyete, yaşa, ailenin gelir durumuna, akademik başarıya, anne eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı fark göstermiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin empati becerileri ile iletişim becerileri arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur.
The aim of this study is to examine whether empathy and communication skills of adolescents differed as a function of internet usage time, intended use of internet, social network sharing type, the most widely used social network, friends in number, gender, age, family income status, academic achievement and parental education status. The sample consisted of 210 male and 228 female 8th grade students from 8 secondary schools in the district of Kocaeli province Başiskele. Communication Skills Inventory, Empathic Tendency Scale and Personal Information Form were used as a data collection instruments in this study. The results indicated that adolescents' empathy skills differed in terms of Internet usage time, intended use of internet, social network sharing type, the social network the number of friends, gender, family income status, academic achievement, maternal education level. Adolescent?s communication skills also differed according to internet usage time, intended use of internet, sharing type, social network friends in number, gender, age, family income status, academic achievement and maternal education. In addition, significant positive relationship was found between communication skills and empathy of adolescents.
