Periodontitis is a bacteria-induced chronic inflammatory disease of tooth-supporting tissues, i.e., the gingiva, periodontal ligament, anf alveolar bone. Poorly-controlled glycemic status in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is suggested to play a rolein the periodontal inflammatory process by aggregating the systemic cytokine response.en_US
