This study was conducted in order to assess effect of educational program which will be given to children who will use nebulizer device at home and/or to their caregivers. Sample of the research was comprised of 119 children and/or their caregivers, who admitted to paediatric out-patient clinic and/or hospitalized in department of paediatrics and under nebulizer treatment at home. Data of the research were gathered via Descriptive Data Survey for Children and Caregivers and Survey Concerning Drug Application Via Nebulizer. Data were evaluated using number, percentage, Fisher’s Exact Chi Square Test, Post-hoc and McNemar test analysis. Statistical significance value was considered to be p<0.05. Of the children included in the research; 45.4% were within age range 3-6 years and majority (57.1%) was determined to be male. It was also determined that of the caregivers; 64.7% were at age of 19-32, 93.3% were housewives and 97.4% were mothers, 60.7% had previously used a nebulizer, 99.9% had difficulties and 28.6% had adequate pre-educational knowledge. It was determined that all had adequate knowledge post-educationally; knowing general and technical characteristics of the device, preparing for use, recognition of its parts, being able to install connections and knowing considerable points in treatment and knowing safety instructions significantly (p<0.05) increased. Drug preparation, dilution, application and mechanism of action of the drug, side effects, knowing storage conditions, placement of the mask, cleaning of the parts and performing oral care following nebulisation significantly (p<0.05) increased. In accordance with these outcomes, it has been recommended that children who are under nebulizer treatment at home and their caregivers should be informed in regard to use of nebulizer device and application of nebules.
