This research presents the case study of an innovative educational environment in a Spanish secondary school according to the theoretical framework of popular and convergence culture (Jenkins, 2006, 2007,2009). Speciİically, students have explored music videos and video games (Lacasa, 2011; Sedefro, 2012), as active participants in digital and virtual worlds, assuming the role of content producers by using the audiovisual technique of'machinima' (Johnson & Pettit, 2012; Morton, 2010; Lowood, 20'11). The investigation data have been collected in a Spanish private school during the past academic year. The methodology used was ethnographic and action research (Denzin & Lincoln, 2011; Wiles, Crow& Pain, 2011). A group of 23 students, two teachers, a cinema director and eight researchers have been working with the Video game ''The Sims 3: Showtime'' and with other technologies in a workshop during the school hours. ln the sessions, the students used the narratives of video games and video clips to create their own Video clips, to do this, they had the support of digital and audiovisual resources ofıered by new media. The analysis oİ the sessions was made through an interpretative approach and discourse analysis. The results show how Video games, in combination with other media, can be Used as educational tools that not only contribute to motivation in the learning process, but also allow students to develop new forms of literacy.en_US
