Özet

This research aims to understand internet gaming addiction and how this addiction occurs in the game World of Warcraft. ln this technology era digital games has their own place and these places begin to expand as much as real life itself. Even, it may reach addiction level. Especially, online types of games are more likely to increase addiction. Online gaming addiction is simply the use of computer and video games to make life more bearable. Users are highly tend to isolate themselves from family and friends or other forms of social contact. Leader of this online gaming is World of Warcraft. Now World of Warcraft has 12 million subscribers. According to Yee's 2005 study, 84% of World of Warcraft players are male and 16% are woman, ln this study l will firstly try to describe the online gaming environments, and then focus on World of Warcraft as a pioneer example of this environment. The extreme examples will be given to analyse the addiction level of this game. The average player's age is 28, and female players tend to be a few years older than male players. Regardless of their gender, players spent an average of 21 to 22 hours a week playing the game. As a prediction, World of Warcraft realm wiIl grow up and addictions will repeatedly increase.
