dc.description.abstractAmaç: Bizlerin COVİD-19 ile enfekte olmamızın ardından kedi ve köpeklerimize enfeksiyonu bulaştırdığımız, sonrasında da onlarla temas eden diğer insanlara hastalığı bulaştırdıkları düşünülmektedir. Çalışmamızda pandemi sürecinde hastanemizde hizmet veren çalışanlarımızın kedi veya köpek besleme durumunu sorgulayarak enfeksiyonu geçirmemizde evcil hayvanların rolünün olup olmadığını anlamaya çalıştık. Materyal ve Metodlar: Mart 2020- Haziran 2020 tarihleri arasında Maltepe Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesinde aktif olarak çalışan 383 sağlık personeli evlerinde evcil hayvan besleme durumları göz önüne alınarak sorgulanmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışanlarımızdan evde hayvan besleyen 64 çalışanımızın sadece %4,7’si virüsle enfekte olurken, hayvan beslemeyen 319 çalışanımızın %8,8’i pandemi döneminde enfekte olmuştur, fakat aradaki fark istatistiki olarak anlamlı çıkmamıştır (p=0,14). Hayvan sahibi olanlarda COVİD-19 geçirme açısından Odd’s Ratio 0.51 (%95 Cl 0.15-1.73) olarak saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Kedi, köpek besleyenlerin göreceli olarak daha az enfekte olması, daha önceden evcil hayvanlarda bulunan diğer coronavirüs gruplarından duyarlanmış olunmasına bağlanabilir. Örneklem sayısının arttırılması istatistiksel olarak anlamlı neden-sonuç ilişkisinin saptanmasına neden olabilir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAim: It is thought that after being infected with COVID-19, we have infected our pets and then they infected other people who contacted with them. In this study, we tried to understand the relationship of these animals with being infected by questioning the cat or dog feeding status at the home of our employees who actively serve in hospital during the outbreak. Materials and Methods: 383 health care professionals working actively at Maltepe University Faculty of Medicine Hospital between March 2020-June 2020 were questioned considering their pet feeding status at home. Results: While only 4.7% of our 64 employees, who feed animals at home, are infected with the virus, 8.8% of our 319 employees, who don’t feed, are infected during the pandemic period, but the difference wasn’t statistically significant (p = 0.14). Odd’s Ratio was 0.51 (95% Cl 0.15- 1.73) in terms of passing COVID-19 in animal owners. Conclusion: Relatively being less infected of cat and dogfeeders can be attributed to being sensitized from other coronavirus groups previously found in domestic animals. Increasing the sample size may cause determining statistically significant cause-effect relationship.en_US
